How to claim HDFC Credit Card Insurance Benefits

 

Insurance On HDFC Bank Credit Card

Do minimum 4 transactions each of Rs.100 and above on your HDFC Bank Credit card in a calendar month and be eligible for the below mentioned benefits in the following month:


  • Accidental Death - Cover for 5 times of your credit limit maximum up to Rs. 50,00,000/-
  • Purchase Protection - Fire & Burglary coverage for the items purchased above Rs. 5000/- using Insured Credit Card of HDFC BANK (Up to 180 days) – Maximum Sum Insured being Rs. 2,00,000/-

Accidental Insurance:


On completing 4+ transactions using HDFC Bank Credit card in one calendar month, you will be eligible for Accidental death insurance upto 5 times your credit card limit maximum up to Rs. 50,00,000/- for the subsequent month.



  • The Sum Insured for Accidental Death shall not exceed 5 times of the credit limit of the credit card holder subject to maximum of Rs. 50,00,000/-
  • The cover is applicable for primary cards only.
  • For the card holder to be eligible for a claim, 4 Non ATM swipes / E Commerce transactions is mandatory in the month prior to the month of date of accident.
  • Cardholder will be eligible for a valid claim in the month of policy inception with 4 Non ATM swipes / E commerce transactions apart from the subsequent month coverage from the date of accident.
  • The policy covers Accidental Death due to Rail or Road Accidents only.
  • The Personal Accident cover is on worldwide basis.
  • The following risk / perils have been explicitly excluded under the policy:

    • Injury caused by surgery
    • Nuclear energy risk
    • Professional activities of police/ military personnel
    • Offshore activities
    • Suicide
    • Under Influence of Alcohol and/or Drugs.

How to claim?

  • Legal heir to intimate any accidental death event within 30 days at bankclaims@hdfcergo.com
  • Legal heir should submit all relevant claims document within 60 days from date of loss atbankclaims@hdfcergo.com
  • HDFC Ergo to check and revert within 3 working days for claims received if any additional documents are required
  • If all the documents are as per the checklist, HDFC Ergo to process the claim and settle the claim to claimant/customer’s account which has been provided along with the claim document
  • In case of claim repudiation the claimant will be provided with a repudiation letter with the reason of repudiation by the Insurance Company.

What all documents are needed to be submitted?:

  • Duly filled and signed claim form
  • Customer to mention “HDFC Bank Credit Card Claim” in the right hand corner of the claim form and leave the policy no: field empty
  • Medical documents and death summary from the hospital. (if the card holder is admitted to hospital)
  • Postmortem Report (Medical office stamp mandatory in Post Mortem report
  • Death certificate issued by municipal authorities
  • Police FIR copy (Police station stamp mandatory in the copy)
  • Viscera Report/Chemical analysis Report/Histopathological Report if applicable
  • Last one month’s credit card statement prior to date of loss
  • Final Police investigation report(if applicable)
  • Credit card copy
  • If Claimant not registered provide legal heir certificate from collector office/civil court
  • KYC (Know your customer) form (all mark * are mandatory) and submit self signed KYC documents as per checklist mentioned in the form, along with recent passport size photo
  • KYC documents for card holder and nominee both (Photo id and address proof)
  • NEFT details of the nominee (Cancellation cheque printed name to be mentioned). If printed name not available in nominee cheque copy, Please provide Bank statement or Pass Book for account number verification

Purchase protection for Fire & Burglary Insurance

Coverage valid for 180 days post purchase and restricted to assets purchased above Rs. 5,000/- using HDFC Bank Credit Cards.

For Personal Portable Equipments coverage limit Per Item is Rs. 25,000/-

For any other assets maximum Sum Insured of Rs. 2,00,000/-

Under the Fire and Burglary Protection, articles purchased through your insured HDFC Bank Credit Card, provided the Cardholder undertakes to declare the value and date of purchase (First 180 days cover from the date of purchase of the articles), are covered. It is important for customer to immediately report details of such loss or damage or injury to the Bank within 48 hours of the incident.

The policy does not cover fire loss or damage to articles combustible in nature, motor vehicles / pedal cycle deeds, bonds, bills of exchange, promissory notes, share certificates, business books, manuscripts, document of any kind, unset precious stones, jewellery and valuables.

How to Claim?

What all documents are needed to be submitted?

In order to claim the Fire and Burglary Insurance, the cardholder needs to submit below mentioned documents

  • Duly filled and signed Claim Form by claimant.
  • Customer to mention “HDFC Bank Credit Card Claim” in the right hand corner of the claim form and leave the policy no: field empty
  • Police Acknowledgment of any kind / First Information Report. (Online FIR not valid)
  • Transactions Summary by claimant.
  • Charge slip copy or Invoice copy of damaged/lost item.
  • Credit card statement from 6 months prior to the Date of loss.
  • Mail or any communication required from mobile company about the SIM card blocking. ( Case of Mobile lost/theft)

The Company hereby agrees subject to the terms, conditions and exclusions herein contained or otherwise expressed herein, to pay to the Insured / Insured Person(s) a sum not exceeding the Sum Insured / Limit of Liability, unless otherwise agreed by the Company, in respect of loss or damage to the contents purchased by the Insured Person(s) through the use of the Credit Card owned by the Insured Persons in accordance with the Sum(s) Insured and conditions as stated in the schedule.

We would also like to inform you that acknowledgement of insurance claim by HDFC Bank is not an admission of liability. The claim received by HDFC Bank will be processed & investigated by the Insurance Co. & their decision will be final & binding. HDFC Bank will not be liable for the decision taken by the Insurance Co.

The Feature will be applicable on Retail and Business Credit cards effective from 1st September,2018 till 31st August,2019

  • Corporate Cards and Commercial Cards are excluded from the promotion.

  • Card Holder/s whose account has been classified as delinquent before or during the currency of the Program, or when the gift is to be collected, will not be eligible for the benefits of the Program.
